1. Catherine Russell at Teatro Principal

8. Benalúa Street Market
Thursday & Saturday mornings – Benalúa Barrio
A proper local market selling mostly fruit and veg, plus some shoes and clothes. Benalúa’s own small indoor market next door is worth a stop for a tapa and a quick coffee with the locals.

9. Mercado Central (Centro)
Daily except Sunday – Avda. Alfonso el Sabio
Still the city’s beating heart. Come mid-morning for jamón samples and the smell of roasting coffee drifting out from Calle Poeta Quijano.

10. Las Cigarreras Cultural Centre (Campoamor)

13. ATP Challenger Montemar (17–24 November)
Club Atlético Montemar
Alicante hosts its annual ATP Challenger Montemar tournament — a key stop on the professional men’s circuit. Entry is free during the early rounds and ticketed for the weekend finals.

🍻 Bars & Evenings Out

14. El Cantó (Calle Alemania) – Classic tapas, all locally sourced, and loved by locals. Alicantinos start queuing before it opens at 8 p.m., and it’s absolutely worth the 10 minute walk out of the center of town.

15. Jendrix Bar (Mercado area, Calle Poeta Campos Vassallo) – Lively, unpretentious rock bar with good beer and better playlists.

16. The Little Duke (Avenida Doctor Gadea) – Sports on screen, easy atmosphere, rock music and great selection of beers.

17. Red Corner (Plaza Nueva) – Football on the TVs, a mix of locals and visitors, and plenty of terrace seating. Very popular for big games

18. 100 Montaditos (various locations) – For the price of a pint of beer and a montadito you’ll still get change from a fiver.
