Alicante Nomad Summit: A New Hub for Digital Nomads in Spain

Alicante is gearing up to host the inaugural Alicante Nomad Summit in April, 2025. This event, crafted by digital nomads for digital nomads, aims to foster connections among remote professionals and explore themes of sustainability and the future of remote work.

A City Embracing the Nomadic Wave.

Traditionally overshadowed by larger Spanish cities like Barcelona and Valencia, Alicante has steadily emerged as a preferred destination for digital nomads. Recognising this shift, the city has actively promoted itself as a hub for remote workers. In November 2024, the city council supported the II Congreso Internacional “Alicante: Destino de Teletrabajo y Nómadas Digitales,” underscoring its commitment to attracting innovative and creative professionals.

The Alicante Nomad Summit on the 4th and 5th of April is the first event in the city designed by digital nomads, for digital nomads. Organised by Maria Cuesta and Jean-Baptiste Michel, co-founders of the Nomadway app, along with a diverse international team, the summit aims to strengthen and grow Alicante’s thriving remote work community. With a focus on sustainability and the future of work, attendees can expect inspiring talks, expert panels, and engaging networking opportunities. Beyond the business aspect, the event also embraces the lifestyle that makes Alicante so appealing—Mediterranean dinners, Flamenco performances, and the unbeatable year-round climate. Whether you’re a seasoned remote worker or just starting your digital nomad journey, this summit is the perfect opportunity to connect, learn, and experience what makes Alicante an emerging hub for location-independent professionals.

The Team Behind the Summit

The Alicante Nomad Summit is the brainchild of Maria Cuesta and Jean-Baptiste Michel, co-founders of the NomadWay app. They assembled a diverse team comprising Fabian, an architect and graphic designer from Germany; Emiliya, a content strategy expert from Bulgaria; and Johanna, an editor and communications specialist with German and Chilean roots. This international ensemble shares a unified goal: to cultivate and expand the digital nomad community in Alicante.

Life can throw challenges in your way as you try to navigate the bureaucracy and regulations of a foreign country but many find that the rewards far outweigh the hurdles. Alicante’s Mediterranean climate, characterised by mild winters and long hot summers, is a significant draw. With over 300 days of sunshine a year, Europe’s sunniest city is a dream for those who thrive in warm weather. The long, sunny days almost beg you to hit the beach for a quick break, adding an extra layer to the elusive “work-life balance” that digital nomads in Alicante dream of.

The city’s compact size makes it easy to navigate, whether you’re cycling through the historic streets or using the ever-growing network of cycle lanes. All of the digital nomads in Alicante that we talked to agreed: “Alicante is the perfect size – not too big, not too small.” This balance makes it easy to get around and enjoy the city’s amenities without feeling overwhelmed. For digital nomads in Alicante, the simple pleasure of stepping outside to bask in the Mediterranean sun while enjoying lunch in a picturesque plaza is nothing short of a game-changer.
